Simon Njami
Simon Njami (né en 1962 à Lausanne, Suisse, vit à Paris) a organisé de nombreuses expositions d’art contemporain africain, parmi lesquelles « Africa Remix » (travaux réalisés par quatre-vingt artistes africains contemporains, et montrés en cinq lieux d’exposition dans le monde entier) de 2004 à 2007, et il a été commissaire d’exposition du pavillon africain lors de la Biennale de Venise en 2007 et de la FNB Joburg Art Fair 2008 à Johannesburg, Afrique du Sud. Cofondateur et rédacteur en chef de « Revue Noire », directeur artistique de la « Biennale de la photographie à Bamako » pendant dix ans, il a publié de nombreux textes relatifs à l’art africain.

Le livre Revue Noire – Histoire Histoires – History Stories raconte l’aventure de quatre amis, Jean-Loup Pivin, Pascal Martin Saint Léon, Bruno Tilliette et Simon Njami, qui, mus par la même volonté de faire découvrir la richesse de l’art contemporain africain et de ses innombrables artistes, créèrent en 1991 le célèbre magazine "Revue Noire".

Et ce fut sans conteste dans ce dernier champ que le magazine a fait avec le plus d’éclat, la démonstration d’une spécificité africaine.
