Née en 1980 vit et travaille à Harare, Zimbabwe,
Georgina Maxim est une artiste textile. Elle Partage son Travail entre sa pratique artistique et sa pratique curatoriale.
Elle a confondé en 20212 VILLAGE UNHU , un collectif et un espace artistique à Harare mêlant ateliers, exposition, workshops et programme de résidences.
Après des études à l'université de Chinhoyi, Elle à enseigné les arts plastiques plusieurs années à l'école Prince Edward tout en dirigeant la Galerie Delta, galerie historique pour l'Art contemporain à Harare.

Born in 1980 lives and works in Harare, Zimbabwe, Georgina Maxim is a textile artist. She shares her work between her artistic practice and her curatorial practice. In 20212, she merged VILLAGE UNHU, a collective and an artistic space in Harare combining workshops, exhibitions, workshops and a residency program. After studying at Chinhoyi University, Elle taught plastic arts for several years at Prince Edward School while directing the Delta Gallery, a historic gallery for contemporary art in Harare.
Georgina Maxim à dans le même temps développé son travail artistique en se tournant vers le textile et en utilisant les techniques de la broderie , de la couture et du tissage pour déstructurer, découper et recomposer des vêtements de seconde main. Elle crée ainsi des œuvres singulières qui échappent aux définitions : l'artiste décrit elle-même son travail comme un acte de mémoire, une transcription de l'instant, des moments vécus et des histoires qu'évoquent ces textiles usagés.
Georgina Maxim at the same time developed her artistic work by turning to textiles and using the techniques of embroidery, sewing and weaving to deconstruct, cut and recompose second-hand clothes. She thus creates singular works that escape definitions: the artist herself describes her work as an act of memory, a transcription of the moment, of the moments lived and of the stories evoked by these used textiles.
en 2018, Georgina Maxim a été nominée pour le Henrike Grohs Award
(Goethe Institute, Abidjan). Son Travail a été exposé au Zimbabwe (Galerie Delta, National Gallery of Zimbabwe ) et à l'international (Mojo à Dubaï, 31 PROJECT à Paris , Goeth Institute de Salvador de Bahia).

En 2019, elle présente une installation pour le pavillion zimbabwéen de la 58 ème Biennale de Venise. La même année Georgina Maxim passe un master à l'université de Bayreuth, afin d'approfondir sa pratique curatoriale et effectue une résidence de de plusieurs mois au Goeth Institute de salvador de Bahia. Elle Expose en 2020 au Musée Bargoin (Clermont-Ferrand) et présente son travail au Frac Nouvelle-Aquitaine MECA en 2021 dans le cadre de l'exposition Memoria : récits d'une autre histoire.
In 2019, she presented an installation for the Zimbabwean pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennale. The same year Georgina Maxim completed a master's degree at the University of Bayreuth, in order to deepen her curatorial practice and to carry out a residency of several months at the Goeth Institute in Salvador de Bahia. She exhibits in 2020 at the Musée Bargoin (Clermont-Ferrand) and presents her work at the Frac Nouvelle-Aquitaine MECA in 2021 as part of the exhibition Memoria: tales of another history.
